Robertson Village Overland Flow Study
Wingecarribee Shire Council
About the Robertson Village Overland Flow Study
Study objectives
The study will address the existing, future and continuing flood problems within Robertson Village, in particular the historical flooding issues in Hoddle Street.
To do this, J. Wyndham Prince will:
-
assess the current flood behaviour in and around the town under existing conditions
-
predict future flood behaviour
-
assess what impacts the proposed changes to land use surrounding the township will have on existing flood condition
What’s involved?
The NSW Government’s Flood Prone Land Policy requires a staged approach to the identification and management of flood risk. To address this requirement, Council has outlined the illustrated process to manage flood risk.
Study scope
Phase 1: a comprehensive investigation will be undertaken to determine the extent and effect of flooding in the study area. Computer based flood models will be developed to determine historical and future flood events. The potential effects of climate change will also be considered.
Phase 2: mitigation options to address the areas of flood risk will be developed and assessed.
Council’s planning policies and long term strategies for the area will be reviewed and a masterplan will be developed for detailed assessment in phase 3.
